FALLOW GALLERY
- There is a space restriction of approximately 15x12x3.5cm for the large coils and 15x5x1.5cm for the small coils.
- Another consideration for artists is the impact of the fall when an item is purchased. The machine has a crash pad installed in the receptacle, but still, artists must keep the fall in mind when designing work. This is something that can be addressed in the packaging of the work which must be protective yet clearly indicate what the item is, and be heavy enough to encourage the item to fall.
- Artists involved will price their own work, but we can help with suggestions on what price range is most successful/how to properly price work. The price range the machine accepts is $.05-$100.
- Your packaging must include artist contact information and/or a business card. We want to promote you and your work and we can’t do that if buyers have no way of contacting you after they get their hands on your work.
- Artists must be able to produce a minimum of five pieces. Production lines are favoured over on-offs.
- Use common sense and don’t use potentially hazardous materials.
- If your work contains explicit materials we might ask for you to consider discrete packaging, and/or labeling the outside with a warning (“R-Rated”). We don’t consider nudity explicit.
- submissions are open to all NSCAD students, alumni, and friends of NSCAD.
- We like art that pushes some buttons, but we do not condone material that is oppressive. If we think your work is approaching this territory, you will be asked to modify your work.
- We are no longer charging an overhead! 100% of the profit goes back to artist.
- All work is to be sold on commission (we don’t buy the work outright, we offer a place for you to sell your work.)
- In the case that you are proposing to curate a show in the gallery, you take responsibility for selecting artists to show, as well as making sure the work shown meets our criteria and your own, you are responsible for the set-up and take down of work, and the distribution of artists money.
- If all goes well, be prepared for us to ask for more, even if you are only able to keep us in stock periodically. We’d like to keep a steady rotation of popular items/artists!
-if an item breaks from the fall from the vending machine Fallow Gallery will put the customer in touch with the artist to arrange for a replacement/reimbursement.
